Piperi House

The House

Welcome to the Greek haven on the picturesque island of Kythnos.

Nestled on a stunning peninsula, this unique place awaits to provide you with an unforgettable experience by the sea, where every morning begins with the sheer magic of sunrise over Piperi Island.

As you step into this calming retreat, you'll find yourself surrounded by the timeless beauty of the Cycladic landscape, which contrasts the azure waters of the Aegean Sea that are just a stone's throw away.

It's a place where modern aesthetics meet the traditional charm of the Cyclades, creating a space where you can relax, rejuvenate, and embrace the true spirit of Greek island living.

All the interior rooms of the house are orientated towards the stunning ocean view, and connected to a series of outdoor terraces.

Piperi House comfortably sleeps six guests in three bedrooms, each offering a perfect view of the enchanting island of Piperi and the ocean.

You’ll sleep on renowned & all natural Coco-mat mattresses and enjoy cosy Tekla bedding and towels.

For those who share our love for reading, travel and have passion for the Mediterranean, our little library has a collection of inspiring books to offer.

Iconic Greek staircases connect all volumes and outdoor spaces of the house.

You'll find a bathroom with both, a luxurious bathtub and a convenient shower, allowing you to unwind before and after a day of island exploration. Two toilets are provided.

Furthermore we've thoughtfully equipped our home to ensure your comfort and convenience: The fully equipped kitchen is easy to feel home in and provides all tools for great meals.

Wifi is provided (as fast as it gets on an island) to stay connected or work from there.

The house offers three terraces. Shown here is the entrance and back side of the house.

Climb on the roofs, feel the breeze of the Cycladic winds and smell the herbs from the land and salt from the ocean.

Four sunbeds are provided if you want to stay around the house. The sandy Simousi beach is a 10min walk away, a smaller sand beach 5min walking distance and the cliffs some stairs down right down the house.

The Architecture

The house itself is inspired by Cycladic villages defined by vernacular white cubes held together by white stepped alleys. As a crystalline sculpture cut out of a single piece of white stone, the monolithic volumes contrast the dry landscape of burnt brown and green hues.

Inside, as well as outside, the white stairs playfully offer a circular movement through all the levels of the house. Inspired by the drawings of M.C.Escher, one can move above, below and through the house in an infinite circle of steps.

The cluster of four white cubes is set into the hillside at different heights, creating multiple panoramic views of the neighboring islands.

The presence of the Cycladic archipelago and the ever changing color of the sea and sky can be experienced from everywhere in the house. From the inside, the view of the small uninhabited Piperi Island is perfectly framed from all three beds, the bathtub, the dining table, and the sofa.

The terraces not only connect the different spaces, but also underline the Mediterranean landscape. From outside, the roofs of the white cubes can be accesses as elevated plateaus above the rocks.

The Location

Set into and over a hillside on the Greek island of Kythnos, this house offers panoramic Aegean views and easy coastal access.

The Island

Located in the western Cyclades, the isle of Kythnos is known for its wild, natural landscapes and traditional villages.

Kolona Beach is the island’s best known waterfront, a 250-meter sandy isthmus surrounded by crystalline waters. Kythnos’ undulating austerity creates a series of small, open bays, home to more than 90 beaches, most of golden sand, some backed by rocky cliffs.

The village of Loutra is where you’ll find the thermal springs known for their therapeutic properties said to cure arthritis. The traditional village of Driopidia has a rich artisanal history of ceramics and features picturesque narrow streets and uniquely tiled rooftops.

Water sports opportunities are many on the island, and landlubbers should note that the wild inland landscape offers hiking trails of various levels, in addition to numerous scenic routes meandering through traditional villages.

How to get there

From Athens Airport you can go to the harbour Lavrio and the ferry will take about 1,5 hours.

If you plan some days in Athens before, you can leave from the harbour Piräus and the ferry ride will take 3 hours from there.

Getting around

You can rent a car in the airport or on the island. You do need a car to get to the house and around the island. The last 2km of the road to the house aren’t covered with asphalt. We recommend to drive slow.
